  • Congrat to you.
I am little bit confused here.
What did you mean by “Our 3 photos are nominees ….” .
    Who are in your group?
    What are their names?
I also won the The Photography Master Cup few months ago.

    Thank you, sir.
I am saying “our” instead of “my” because we are the team here:I am a photographer, Genia Larionova is our retoucher and sometime stylist.
And technically, you and me did not won the contest: we just nominee. I was in a honorable mention one time in 2006, since then in nominee every year. But this is not why we send the photos there: We need a first place:-)

    hi. beautiful work!!
how did you get the water angle on the apple shot?

    Thank you, Tal.
The apple was hanged on a fish wire, and that stream of water from a hose was hitting it from side-bottom, exactly as it appears on a photo.

Nice shots… have a question for you. Did you subscribe to the Photo Paper Magazine and if so have you gotten it yet. I’m beginning to think its scam or they like to hold our money as long as they can before being sued,

    Kevin,
i was thinking to do subscribe, but have not done yet. Knowing how long they do everything, I would expect such delay with the magazine as well.
Now I will hold with the subscription. In any case, hope you’ll get the magazine soon.. let us know when it will happen:-)
    Good luck and thank you:-)

    Really great images!!!

I think the color awards is a scam. I entered the first competition in 2007/2008 and was a nominee and then again the following year.
I got the subscription to the magazine the first time around, and still waiting for the first issue.

    Aisling,
Yeah, I do not know what the problem they have with the magazine, it is sad to hear that you did not get your copy.
Usually they have pretty decent stuff in the winners though:-)
Wish you to get on top next time!

He is looking into this matter about the Photo Paper Magazine and also thinks it is not right.

  • I have to add my two cents a bit late. It is now October and I have found out I am (was) the second place winner in the people category. But something seemed amiss. After contacting jurors from their list I found some interesting things. MANY of the people on the list no longer work for the company that they are paired with. The people who returned my call from Getty had no affiliation with them. Brooks Jensen from Lenswork (Spider Awards – sister competition) is not a juror. They produce no real magazine. Their phone number is disconnected. Their address in Beverly Hills is a Mailbox Exchange not a Suite. I sent an email asking for my money back and to be removed from the winners slot. They indicate they did that but assured me that all the jurors see all the images. That’s not what Alexander Montague of Christie’s London told me. He said he looked at a handful from about 5 categories.Yes, I called London. I only came across one man who said simply, yes he was a juror. Tim Delger of David and Goliath. I am still looking into the others and waiting for email responses.
So the most telling action was that prior to sending an email to The Color Awards (Master’s Cup) I took a screenshot of their juror page and they did what I anticipated; they omitted any reference to jurors looking at the work. Please pass this on to as many photographers as you can. When you see the caliber of images (above) that are submitted it is unfair to hard working artists not to be professionally critiqued. So whether you won or were a nominee becomes a mute point. And that is why I withdrew my name. How do you claim the rights knowing what is behind the whole thing – A scam for sure. Do the math, they are making some serious money.

I think we need to spread the word about these scammers. We should not be supporting this criminal company. The spider awards are looking for submissions one again and I would love for this company to be shut down NOW!
